…and then I’ll go and change my idea, of course.
If you have other things in the room that bug your eye, you can probably paint them too!Have you seen some of the amazing painted vinyl floors people have been doing?
I’m tempted, I tell you.Very tempted.. Go a little bit traditional.Even if your style leans towards more modern decor, putting in one or two really traditional “dining room”-y elements in your space will make it feel more like a. real.
dining room and less like just a random purpose-less room. This can be a tradionalish buffet or china cabinet, maybe some nice paneling on the walls like you see in a lot of dining rooms, or you can do something like we did with our plate rack.
One of the things I’d really like to have in this room one day is some nice built in cabinetry to hold dishes, but since we can’t do that right now, a plate rack gives that “built-in storage” feel.
It was cheap and quick too!.No one died, everyone was happy, but it’s not something that I personally want to live through if I can avoid it..
I thought it might help my sanity if I printed out a basic list of what kinds of things I do in the morning, afternoon, and evening. That way, if I’m all tied up with the baby, and Chris wants to know what needs to get done, I can just point him to my trusty binder with the lists in it, and he can take it from there (theoretically)..
The fact that it’s cute will just make me feel super organized and on top of things even if the house is falling apart around me a little.(That binder is from the Martha Stewart Line available at Staples).
